Okay so we didn't get a new car. That's just Brooklyn with Dom at the Saturn dealership while we were waiting for our oil change to get done. Below is actually her new ride, awww yeah. It has 4 wheels and I drag it all through our kitchen and dining area.

In Honor.
So I admittedly have become more of an online reader than I ever anticipated via the blog world. I suppose there is just so much to see, hear, reflect on, relate to, or disagree with.
One of the most entertaining blogs I read often had a post that caught my attention last week. It was then that I learned of a beautiful little girl, Maddie, that lost her life on April 7th. I know NOTHING of these people, have no real connection, but have been touched, inspired, and am forever grateful for her life.
I started to follow her mothers blog, and can't stop visiting it every day to see how she is doing. The post that I first stumbled on I could hardly read through it as I was sobbing by the time I got done. I suppose I feel a connection because I have a little baby girl that has changed my life completely, but anyone really, will forever be moved. It's something about this childs bright, beautiful face that makes this tragedy all the more real. It puts a lump in my throat and a twinge in my heart when I read more about her. Her father writes as well, and his posts are all the more painful to read.
It has been inspiring to see the outpour of love and support to this family from an online community that knows nothing really about each other. I guess it also justifies my obsession, knowing that I'm not the only one so closely following along hoping their pain eases day by day. Their family was very involved in the March of Dimes, as Maddie was born premature. Because of this story, and because I have a beautiful, healthy baby I have committed to doing the March for Babies here in Austin on May 9th. I won't reach out to her family and contact them, as if I can even begin to share their grief. But I can do my part in paying tribute to little Maddie Moo, and all the other parents out there that are fighting their fight.
If you want to join me, or donate, just click on the March for Babies banner on the right.
Rest in peace little one, may God be with you always.

We've been robbed!
HH: Bath time for Brooklyn!
Dump toys in water
DG: Where are the rest of her toys?
HH: What do you mean, they're all there?
DG: No, they are not. The penguin is missing, one of the starfish, the whale...
HH: Oh, really? Well I'm sure they are around here somewhere.
Start tearing bathroom apart looking for missing toysDG: Wait, the maids were here today weren't they? The MAIDS stole them! They took them, can you believe it? I can't believe someone would steal from a child, that's just crazy. You have to say something to them Heather, because this week baby toys, next week, your $100 bottle of Coco Chanel dissapears.
HH: Nobody better touch my Chanel!
DG: I'll say something to them, this is ridiculous. I wonder what else they took.
HH: Yeah, that is crazy and I just can't believe it.
Moment of reality and reflection
HH: Hey baby, wasn't Brooklyn playing with those toys on our bed yesterday morning?
DG: Umm...yes.
Walks over to bed and pulls back the sheets
DG: Oh wait! Here they are, they got folded into the sheets. Whew, all toys accounted for.
DG: Maids did a great job today, house looks nice.
How quick we are to judge eh? Dom and I both felt a sting of guilt after that conversation realizing that we were the idiots who misplaced her plastic bath toys - worth about $3.00 I might add. I think I'm going to buy them their own set of bath toys as I know Anna Maria has a daughter a few months younger than Brooklyn. Maybe a batch of cookies too? I need some sort of secret peace offering since I wrongly accused them of theft!! Everyone likes chocolate chip right?

The RESISTANCE.
Can someone please tell me their secret to getting their child to eat baby food? I am having no luck, an occasional bite or two but for the most part just head turning and spitting. I'm at the point where I am considering buying a plastic tarp, poke two holes so I can see, to wear when we go through this fiasco.
You should have seen me. She knows she is doing this too, little shit. TGIF everyone!

Splish Splash
Ah yes, bath time. She loves it. Funny, mom hasn't taken a nice hot bath since about my 2nd trimester which was this time last year. So yeah, no soaking tub in about a year. Wah. :) Now that she sits up a new world has arrived. Rubber toys in various forms of fish, stars, ducks, etc...oh, and a recent addition of a tug boat. Splashing is the best thing ever and either Dom or myself are pretty much soaked by the time we wrap her in a towel. My friend Allison just referenced a bathing experience with her own kiddos that went something like this "just doing a little bath tub turd fishing." Wow. Can't wait for that one. Here are a few photos I snapped this last week, had to do a little styling to create the moment:

Tell it like it is.
Don't you wish you could read a babies mind? I imagine they are saying things like, "look at these two idiots about 4 inches away from my face, totally invading my personal space, making these crazy noises.""Where is my bottle?.""Wipe my ass."
The beauty of a baby, and child I imagine, is there independence to not care about what they say, when they say it. They have a mind of their own and they without a doubt tell it like it is. In this video clip Brooklyn is doing just that. It translates to nothing, but in her mind - she's saying something. This is her latest 'thing' - it's hilarious.

Happy Easter eveyone!

No, seriously. What month is it?
Okay, wow. Time has been flying by lately and I'm not sure what that is all about. My little one will be 7 months old in two days. 7 months! I can't keep up with all of her changes and while I love them, I already miss the helpless baby stage.
It' s been hectic too, I suppose that's why time definitely isn't standing still. My first HIGH fever as a new mom, Brooklyn's temp hit 104.3 last Saturday and that definitely just sucked. It was scary to be bathing her at 1:00 a.m. because she was as red as a tomatoe, and shaking. All in all it was just an ear infection but it took about 5 days before she got back to herself.
Vball team won 1st place! Playing with my old teammates was so much fun and I plan to keep up with it. We proved that even though we are about 12 years older we can still bring it. Next season starts in June...
Went to visit Capt. Rick this weekend up at the lake. Richard came down with his new girl and a few friends, Stan was in town, so it was a full family affair. My New Yorker did alright out there on the dock with my dad and brother. Lots of smack talking back and forth and I think in the end Dom owes my dad lunch, but hey - he tried. The old man can out fish anyone.
Yeah so for those of you keeping up with us we're doing great, just really busy and slightly sleep deprived! :)
